Olvera Street  .
Los Angeles . CA

The Olvera Street project included seismic rehabilitation and disabled access facilitation for a block of five 19th and 20th century structures on the East side of Olvera Street. JAG Architects was responsible for preparing Historic Structures Reports for each of the five buildings. In a related project, a portion of the winery building exterior was restored to accommodate new offices for the existing El Paseo Restaurant.

JAG Architects conducted a survey of existing conditions to identify the character defining elements of the historic winery and developed restoration plans to conserve these elements. Remaining non-historic elements were removed to open space for adaptive reuse. JAG Architects prepared an office space plan for the owner's new corporate headquarters.

New construction materials were selected to complement the historic elements. The design for the new office environment reflects a melding of the historic past with the requirements of a modern corporate office.
